Liberal Democrat Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North constituency, Andrew Simpson has raised £148 for Homeless Voice Northamptonshire after spending a night sleeping out.
"It was a night that made you think about those less fortunate than ourselves"
"It was a night that made you think about those less fortunate who are left sleeping out at this time of year" said Andrew. "I was lucky in that I chose to spend a night sleeping outside to raise the issue but those who do have no choice and for one reason or another find themselves with nowhere to go. The numbers of homeless are increasing and it is unacceptable in a modern society such as ours that this should be the case".
Andrew joined other local politicians and members of the public in spending the night sleeping out in St Giles Churchyard to raise funds for Homeless Voice Northamptonshire. Homeless Voice aim to help the homeless with their own rehabilitation and resettlement.
" I am grateful to all those who helped support the event" continued Andrew "I hope it has raise the issue in people's minds and that they don't forget that we all still have a responsibility to help those sleeping rough in our town".
