The expanded Waitrose store in Northampton could spell the end for New Labour

A new computer programme has been developed that claims to be able to predict how and if people will vote based on social demographic characteristics such as where they shop.

According to the program, Paan - which stands for Political Advanced Analysis Network - if Waitrose is coming to town then the sitting Labour MP should worry.

"This could be bad news for Sally Keeble" said Lib Dem prospective parliamentary candidate Andrew Simpson "With Northampton's only Waitrose store in Kingsthorpe about to double in size maybe this is a sign that there will be a change at the next General Election'.

Paan uses a mass of political and social information, including shopping habits, ethnic background and car ownership to produce predictions in every constituency. According to it only 25 constituencies held by Labour have a Waitrose store.
