Liberal Democrats - Making Europe work for You
The European Election campaign kicked off in Northampton with Andrew Simpson, Liberal Democrat Prospective parliamentary candidate for Northampton North constituency, joining Euro candidate and local Councillor Richard Church in calling for voters to use the European Elections as a judgement on the Government's handling of Iraq.
"Being positive about Europe provides us with a way of tackling shared problems and creating greater peace and prosperity" said Andrew "Yet this Labour Government took a different line to many of our European partners by backing the USA led action in Iraq. Voters should remember this and use the European Elections as a means to tell Labour what it thinks of them."
The Liberal Democrats have launched their European Election manifesto 'Making Europe Work for You' which focuses on the achievements of Europe in dealing with problems both in the UK and abroad - from tackling international crime to action on environmental pollution.
The party is hopeful of gaining ground in the East Midlands where the elections which are run under a form of proportional representation are also for the first time conducted as an all postal ballot. Local Councillor and Leader of the Borough Council Lib Dem Opposition, Richard Church is one of the contenders on the Lib Dem list.
