"This is a vitally important facility providing important care for people in our community and we must call on the PCT to change it's decision" said Andrew
Andrew Simpson and Northampton Lib Dem Borough Councillors have pledged their support to the campaign to stop Cynthia Spencer Day Hospice from closing. All three political parties on the Borough Council supported the setting up of a petition to stop the closure.
"Daventry and South Northants Primary Care Trust has some serious questions to answer" said Andrew Simpson. "Why did they allow a situation to come about where an important facility is reopened for 10 weeks and then threatened with closure".
The Day Care Hospice is part of the Cynthia Spencer complex on the Kettering road in Northampton and was opened by the Earl Spencer in February following a £9.7 million redevelopment. £1.5 million was raised by members of the public. The Day Care hospice provides vital respite care for terminally ill patients.
"This is a vitally important facility providing important care for people in our community and we must call on the PCT to change it's decision" continued Andrew "It would be short-sighted and callous to close this facility".
