Lib Dem Shadow Secretary of State for the Environment Chris Huhne MP visited the University of Northampton's SITA Centre for Sustainable Waste Management today to see for himself pioneering work by students at the University on waste management.
Commenting on the visit Chris said "I was pleased to be able to see at first hand research work being undertaken at the University which will help shape how our country deals with waste management in the future. It is crucial that we recycle and re-use waste to cut down on landfill and move towards a truly environmentally sustainable society."
Chris also meet Young Liberal Democrat students who were standing for election to Northampton Borough Council on 3rd May.
Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate Andrew Simpson accompanied Chris on his visit and said " I am very proud to be able to take Chris to see leading edge work in the management of waste here in Northampton. The University of Northampton is showing the way forward in this area and we Lib Dems would want to see more emphasis on this kind of work".
