"I have consistently opposed development on this site and said that the Government's house building plans for Northampton are excessive."
Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North constituency Andrew Simpson has called on the new Lib Dem administration of Northampton Borough Council to refuse to sell Council owned land at Dallington Grange.
"Development on Dallington Grange is massively opposed by people in the town" said Andrew "The Council must use its position of owning some of the land in the area to reduce the number of houses being proposed, get answers to the impact of the development on flooding and traffic or, if possible, scupper the plans completely."
"I have consistently opposed development on this site and said that the Government's house building plans for Northampton are excessive. I do not oppose building more affordable homes on 'brownfield' sites but Dallington Grange is a greenfield site and should be protected.
"The WNDC was created to force through the Governments housing building plans over the heads of local people. Dallington Grange is a clear example where public opinion is against the plans but an unelected Government appointed Quango (WNDC) will press ahead regardless. Only the Borough Council now stands in the way of 3,200 houses on this green open space." continued Andrew.
