The informal hustings session was part of the East Midlands Lib Dem Regional Conference.

"It was great to hear both candidates set out their stall" said Andrew Simpson, Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North, who attended the event.

"Both candidates demonstrated real energy and passion to take the party forward while giving different approaches to the challenge ahead".

Chris Huhne talked about 'changing politics from the ground up and creating a 'Liberal revolution' whilst Nick Clegg spoke of 'reaching out beyond the tired pattern of party politics to connect with people who shared liberal values'.
