Time People were asked over Town Centre Plans says Lib Dem

Andrew Simpson, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North has launched a major survey into people's view on Northampton Town Centre and the Market Square.

"I want to find out what people really think about demolishing Greyfriars Bus Station or events on the Market Square" said Andrew "We've had lots of comments in the local papers about this but no real comprehensive survey to prove or disprove what views are being expressed."

Andrew Simpson is mailing over 20,000 households in the town with a survey form with an online version available at www.andrew-simpson.org.uk. The survey is open until the end of the year with results being presented back early in the New Year. Andrew will present his results to the Borough Council Portfolio holder to help inform plans for the town centre regeneration.

Early results from the online version of the survey are showing over 80% think the town centre has deteriorated over the last few years, over 70% think car parking charges are too high and deter people from coming to the town and over 60% want the bus station demolished and replaced.

"This gives people a real chance to have their say on our town centre" continued Andrew. "Unlike some other surveys it is quick and simple and easy to do - covering the main issues people are discussing".
