Residents and local campaigners in the Overstone Lodge area have stepped up their campaign for action to slow down traffic in Billing Lane. This follows two further accidents in the road which saw a wall damaged.

It comes after a number of petitions have been presented to the County Council calling for action to be taken but nothing having been done so far to tackle the problem.

"It will only be a matter of time before there is a serious accident here" said Andrew Simpson, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North. "All we are asking for are warning signs and traffic calming measures to alert motorists to their speed and get them to slow down before it is too late. At present this remains a dangerous stretch of road".

Local Councillor Dennis Meredith has already presented one petition to Cllr Bob Seery at the County Council and a number of others have also been submitted.

"Local residents have had enough" said Cllr Meredith. "We need firm answers from the County Council as to what they are doing to address this. They know the strength of feeling in the area and they have the facts of accidents that have taken place. When will they be doing something about it?"
