Liberal Democrat Party President Simon Hughes MP will be in Northampton this Saturday to address the East Midlands Region Lib Dem Conference being held at The Cobblers Conference suite at Sixfields.
"It is great to be back in Northampton" said Simon "After the Liberal Democrats stunning victory last year, when they took control of the Council for the first time, I am keen to hear of their progress in turning round the mess they inherited from the Conservatives".
The Conference will see a gathering of Lib Dem members from across the East Midlands to listen to debates, take part in workshops and training, and hear from MP's and party experts. Lib Dem MP for Chesterfield Paul Holmes will also be speaking as well as the National Party's Campaigns Director Hillary Stevenson.
The Conference will be opened by Northampton North's Parliamentary Candidate, Cllr Andrew Simpson who said
"We are delighted to welcome Lib Dem colleagues from across the region to Northampton. Since the last conference here in 2006 the party has not only taken control of the Borough Council but made major progress across the region. We are now poised to gain parliamentary seats in the East Midlands come the next election."
