Northampton Lib Dems head to Conference

Andrew Simpson speaking at Conference Later this week Northampton Liberal Democrats will be making the trip to Bournemouth for the party's annual Conference. At least a dozen Northampton Liberal Democrat members and Councillors will be attending led by Northampton North Parliamentary Candidate Cllr Andrew Simpson.

"This is the last Party Conference season before the next General Election making this Liberal Democrat Party Conference even more important." said Andrew Simpson.

"In Northampton we have been campaigning on a range issues such as the scrapping of the 10p tax rate, against imposed housing development by Government, stopping local schools being forced to become Academies and most recently the disgraceful loss of Sunday train services. Conference gives us a chance to raise issues from Northampton on a national platform and I will be aiming to do so particularly in the debate on the railways later next week".

"The theme of this conference is 'A Fresh Start for Britain'. The main plans are to cut taxes for people on low and middle incomes, create green jobs and ensure every child has the best start in life."

"This Conference will mark out the clear differences between the Liberal Democrats and the other two parties and will set the scene for our General Election manifesto. For many people in Northampton that General Election cannot come too soon .But it is real change that is needed not just a switching of red for blue."

"The Conservatives' failure to come up with a serious plan for Government means many local residents do not trust them and whilst most people expect Labour to lose Northampton North the Liberal Democrats offer the only real alternative to the Conservatives."
