Liberal Democrat Deputy Leader and Shadow Chancellor, Dr Vince Cable MP, visited Northampton on Friday to discuss the party's plans for funding more apprenticeships with local businesses. Dr Cable visited Cosworths engineering in St James before moving on to a question and answer session at the Northamptonshire Chamber of Commerce.
Whilst at Cosworth Dr Cable said "It's great to see such a British industrial success story. There are far too few of them at the moment.
"The way they have used their technological expertise to diversify into other areas over the past few years has been excellent.
"It's clearly a very well run company."
Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North constituency, Andrew Simpson, who was with Dr Cable on the visit said
"Cosworths represents just the sort of company we want to see more of in Northampton providing skilled employment and cutting edge technology".
"Lib Dem plans to fund additional apprenticeships would help young people in Northampton who are facing a difficult future with high levels of unemployment for those aged under 24".
