Northampton Liberal Democrat members, councillors and campaigners will start a campaign of door step calling this Saturday as part of a nationwide challenge set by Lib Dem Leader Nick Clegg MP to call on 1 million homes across Britain by June 2009.

Andrew Simpson, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Northampton North, said "This is about talking with people on the doorstep about their issues and concerns which so often they feel are being ignored by politicians. In Northampton whilst we run the council we mustn't forget the trust people put in us to do the job and part of that means it is important that we give them the chance to feedback directly their views".

Nick Clegg's Million Door Challenge was launch at the Liberal Democrat Conference in September. Northampton Lib Dems start door knocking in Kingsthorpe this Saturday.

"The nationwide challenge works out at around 3,000 doors across Northampton." continued Andrew "We intend to do more than this up to June next year. I am really looking forward to hearing people's views and opinions."
