August 30, 2010 6:00 PM

Andrew with new Dragon Mounds play areaKingsley ward Councillor, Andrew Simpson, has welcomed the installation of a new play area for Northampton's Racecourse park that is a series of grassed mounds to represent a 'dragon'. The area is currently under construction in the Leicester street corner of the park.

"This is a very welcome addition to the park" said Andrew "The proposed dragon mounds have been under discussion for some time and it is great that the Friends of Northampton Racecourse have managed to finally make this happen".

Cllr Simpson is a member of the Friends of Northampton Racecourse (FoNR) and has been helping the project with local consultation about the play area.

"The final location for the mounds was following extensive consultation with local residents and users and I think the area chosen will work well".

The dragon mounds play area is being constructed by local company Miracle Limited who were the company behind the new adventure play area along from The Pavilion. Alongside the mounds some new play equipment will be installed in the next few weeks - additional funding having been secured thanks to FoNR.
