Liberal Democrats in Daventry are calling on the Government to keep Britain in the Single Market once the country leaves the European Union. They took to the streets this Saturday to get support from Saturday shoppers in Daventry's Bowen Square for a petition to keep Britain in the SIngle Market.

The Single Market is the biggest market in the world and Liberal Democrats have warned that leaving it will put at risk jobs in Daventry and across Northamptonshire. Daventry Lib Dems out Campaigning in Bowen Square

Andrew Simpson. Chair of Daventry Lib Dems and Parliamentary spokesperson said, "The question asked in the Referendum last year made no mention of pulling out of the Single Market. There is no mandate from the British people to take the country out of the largest marketplace on the planet. "Jobs and prosperity are at risk from the Conservative Brexit Government and Labour have timidly rolled over to let them push this through. Jeremy Corbyn's party isn't even acting as an Opposition, never mind a Government in waiting."

"We found a good number of Daventry residents who had supported Britain leaving the EU but had not wanted us to leave the trading block. Particularly with DIRFT nearby and other local industries that are part of European companies or cross border working many are now concerned about waht will happen."
